Example: responding to a person who starts telling a racist joke
“Gee, I usually find your jokes really funny. I can hear where this one is going and I’m not comfortable.
"Would you be willing to tell a different joke or go back to ordering our dinner?”
However you approach it, we encourage you to never lose sight of another person’s humanity.
